  3. This is a revised Sound Manager chapter which is a preliminary version of that which will appear in Inside Macintosh, Volume VI.  This chapter replaces all previous Sound Manager documentation, including the October 1988 interim chapter by Jim Reekes of Developer Technical Support.

This chapter covers the new Sound Manager as found in System Software 6.0.6 as well as that which is planned for System 7.0.  Refer to Inside Macintosh, Volume VI for the complete and accurate description of the System 7.0 Sound Manager.  The information given in this chapter is still preliminary for System 7.0.
